Timeline of Chile Miners Rescue from Aug 5 to now

It's been a great resuce mission so far, with all the world watching it. Every man, woman is talking about it. Few knowing the real facts.

For everyone's benefit i could collect this info and prepare the timeline of the key events from August 5th  - the day 33 of them were trapped.

• August 5 - Thirty-three miners are trapped underground when part of the San Jose mine in Chile's Atacama desert collapses.

• August 6 - Mining minister Laurence Golborne flies in to lead the rescue mission.

  August 7 - A second collapse blocks access to the lower parts of the mine, hampering rescue efforts. President Sebastian Pinera visits the miners' relatives. Attempts are made to drill holes to the miners, but no contact is made.

• August 22 - Rescue workers hear tapping on a drill that has reached a depth of 688 metres. The miners are confirmed to be alive when it is disclosed they have tied a note to a listening probe that reads "all 33 of us are well inside the shelter". The first video of the miners is recorded and shows them to be in a better condition than feared.

• August 23 - Food, water and communication equipment are sent down a hole to the miners.
• August 30 - Rescuers decide the best way to free the miners is to drill three shafts and winch them to safety. The holes, named Plan A, Plan B and Plan C, are dug at the same time to try to rescue the men as quickly as possible.

• September 26 - The first of three rescue capsules built to lift out the men arrives at the mine.

• October 4 - Gifts sent to the miners during their period underground are returned to the surface in advance of their rescue.

• October 9 - The miners celebrate as a drilling rig breaks through into their underground chamber. It is decided that only the first 96 metres of the shaft need to be reinforced.

• October 11 - A test rescue capsule is successfully sent nearly all the way down to where the miners are trapped. Rescue team co-ordinator Andre Sougarret posts a message on Twitter reading: "Today the miners sleep their last night together!".

• October 12 - Final preparations and test runs are carried out before the rescue mission proper gets under way. Rescuer Manuel Gonzalez is lowered down the shaft and is shown greeting the miners on video footage. Shortly before midnight local time, 31-year-old Florencio Avalos, the miner chosen as the first to be freed, enters the rescue capsule and his journey to the surface begins

Florencio Avalos is the first of 33 miners to be freed from a mine in Chile after 69 days underground.

• October 13 - Mr Avalos reaches the surface amid scenes of jubilation, wearing sunglasses to protect his eyes. He embraces relatives and rescuers before being taken for medical tests.

The whole world is watching this saga - With tears in their eyes. Until the worlds' logest rescue mission is over.

Student Thesis on guys she slept with goes viral in internet....

It was hot news last week in US about this Duke University girl's thesis on her encounters. She named it - "An education beyond the classroom : Excelling in the realm of horizontal academics".

She has recorded all details and created a nice power point on 13 athletes she had it with. Including how, where, sizes and every detail. I don't know for what reason she emailed it to three of her friends. The friends have emailed to their friends and eventually it created a massive trend all over the world.

It started appearing in web sites (Even now you can read it) and everyone was talking about it. Her name "Karen Owen" and "Duke University" became one of the biggest search terms in google recently.

This event had raised concerns about several factors

1. Relationships of modern day - How shallow they are.
She has done it purely for the sake of thesis. And sometimes in the University library. Can you imagine???

2. Women's sexual evolution
She had it wit hat least 13 and she publicized it. In Asia or in the past she could have been really ashamed. But see where the girls are heading to nowadays....LOL

3. Power of internet
She has apologized about it going viral. But what can she do now? Guys, Really be careful of what you post on Social networks like Facebook, Twitter or even Email. All small talks can go viral to become the next - big thing.

Why Facebook girls "like it in" different places?

She likes it on the floor
Another likes it on the bed
Another likes it on the couch
Another likes it on her desk
Some likes it on the bar stool
Many likes it in the car

But what is it???

You must have seen it on status these few days. The problem is that our guys go wild seeing something like this and comments.

It was day before yesterday when we started noticing the status of girls. Having gone thru the country code, bra colour code and other stupid initiatives by girls (Come on - why can't they stop being stupid...LOL) I knew its something stupid...

First saw it in my friend now living in Australia (Let's call her a senior - respect), and she was really proud to say "I like it on the floor in my room....". Dozens of ppl have commented - with some girls making it more boring by saying - i like it almost anywhere...


Then yesterday morning, I caught the same in my ex - co-workers status. She had - "i like it on the bed.. seriously :)". One of guys had commented - "Everyone likes it in bed" - And guys - "it" is not what they were talking about.  

They are putting the status telling where they like to keep their handbag or purse when they come home. But they intentionally omit "purse" or "handbag" to create curiosity. This is done as an exercise to celebrate the breast cancer awareness month (October) it seems.

Basically guys - Girls can't keep a secret for more than few hours. Another point is the futility of their exercise. Come on - Whats the relationship between Breast cancer and handbag or purse???...LOL

Market Segmentation Online : 3. Segmentation Bases

Online marketing is typically the same as Traditional marketing in terms of the bases. Only exception is that there are numerous different bases that could be adopted in online marketing.


Segmenting bases are


1. Demographics
E.g.Age, Income, Gender, Education level, ethnicity

2. Geo-graphics
This is basically the segmentation by location.
E.g. City, Village, State, Country, Region..etc.
Google Analytics provides a very good tool with which you can even track the city of your site visitors (In Sri Lanka - Only Colombo and Kandy Possible, But in US hundreds of cities possible)
Given below are geographic data about Facebook users.

3. Psychographics
Activation, Interests, opinions, Personality, Values...etc.

4. Behaviour with respect to the Product
 Usage, Benefits sought, Brand loyalty, user status..etc.

Apart from this basic bases, even combined bases like geo-demographics could be used.


Or as i said above numerous bases like "Budget" can be used.

Interesting facts about law/cases - Tight jeans makes Raper not guilty

This is one interesting case discussed in law class. (Taken from Dailymail - link given below)

Tight-fitting: Skinny jeans like those worn by the alleged rape victim

A man was released of a rape case  after a jury agreed his victim could not have been sexually assaulted while wearing skinny jeans.

Nicholas Gonzales, 23, told a court in Australia that sex with the 24-year-old woman was consensual, despite her claim he had ripped off her size six skinny jeans before the attack.

The Sydney jury sent a note to the judge during the trial asking for more information about 'how exactly Nick took off her jeans'.

The note from a jury member added: 'I doubt those kind of jeans can be removed without any sort of collaboration.'

The not guilty finding follows two other courts - in Seoul and Italy - dealing with the question of whether a woman wearing the tight-fitting jeans can be raped.

In the Seoul case in 2008, the court overturned a seven-year sentence of a man convicted of raping a woman wearing skinny jeans.

But in the same year an Italian court upheld a rape conviction, ruling that 'jeans cannot be compared to any type of chastity belt.'

Mr Gonzales, the Sydney court was told, had met his victim for drinks in April 2008 before going to his house to listen to music.

The woman said they had gone upstairs to his room so he could play his drums - but he had pushed her onto the bed and lay on top of her.

'I struggled to try to get up for a while and then he undid my jeans and he pulled them off,' she said, before adding that she was then raped.

Questioned by defence lawyer Paul Hogan, the woman said she weighed 42 kilograms (6.6 stone) and did not find it difficult to squeeze in and out of her jeans.

Mr Hogan said: 'I'm suggesting it's difficult for skinny jeans to be taken off by someone else unless the wearer's assisting, collaborating, consenting.' 'Ii would disagree,' the woman replied.

Miss Veronica Wensing, chairwoman of the National Association of Services Against Sexual Assault, told the Sydney Morning Herald that a woman's outfit should not be an issue in alleged rapes.

'Any piece of clothing can be removed with force,' she said.

Student claim - J'pura Vc sending 5 girls to Hospital : Different point of view

This is a follow up to my last week article on the public scam of "Student Union claiming the Vice Chancellor has sent 5 girls for Virginity test".

What J'pura VC trying to do is right, But his method is wrong...

After my article (Yes - totally because of the article) the Vice chancellor and director of the hospital spoke on national radio to say nothing like that happened.

Met a non-academic staff who has decades of experience in UNI. Having seen stuff, having experienced bad things he had a lot to say about the incident -

He straightly took the side of students on the following points
- There has been no complaints of rape or anything - so everything is happening under consent
- The girls are doing it with their lovers - so administration shouldnt interfere
- If administration stops it in University - they will have to go to rented rooms,.,etc which could mean pretty serious things

Only bad points he said was that the behaviour is inappropriate for staff and for other students, when it is done in public in inappropriate times.

Again he sympathized the students by saying it is because the SCI students go to Mgt faculty and Mgt and Arts comes to science so they dont know the staff and they do not know to respect. Other problem is time. If they can engage in stuff after working hours - it should be ok it seems.

But even he was upset abt people making this use for political motives.

The goal of a University student should be to study well and go out to contribute to their family and the society which paid for their education.
